OBJECTIVE
Sapna is a green living magazine focused on environmental issues and improving the quality of our lives in an environmentally conscientious way. The magazine’s target audience are college educated men and women between 20 and 50 years of age with diverse interests, occupations and income levels. Their common ground is the eco-awareness, and understanding of the importance of preserving our resources and protecting the animal and plant life. The main objective for this project was to create a magazine cover and a spread that would appeal to such a diverse target audience. Based on the objectives and target audience research, the design was to convey magazine’s “personality” as friendly, approachable, fresh, interesting, smart, modern, dynamic, energizing, and organic.
PROCESS
While trying out different approaches with layout design, color combinations, and the overall look and feel, the focus was kept on the organic, approachable, and modern personality of the magazine. Sans serif fonts were chosen to contribute to the contemporary look and feel of the magazine. Final color selection included earth tones, colors found in nature - tones of blue and green, as well as orange, yellow and brown…colors of bees and honey.
